Are Google certificates in Coursera Plus? The short answer
Mostly yes, with a caveat you must check yourself. According to the official Coursera Plus product page we checked on August 23, 2026, the subscription covers most Professional Certificates, including the Google Career Certificates in Data Analytics, IT Support, Project Management, Cybersecurity, UX Design and Digital Marketing. Coursera also says that certain Professional Certificates are excluded, and it does not publish one master list, so the reliable check is to open your specific program's page and confirm it shows the Coursera Plus label before you subscribe.
Whether you should use Plus to get a Google certificate is a separate question, and it is pure arithmetic. A single certificate billed on its own runs about $49 per month until you finish, and a working adult typically needs 3–6 months, or roughly $150–$300. Plus Annual is $399 a year. How the two billing models work
Model one: pay per certificate at about $49 a month
Each Google Career Certificate is its own monthly subscription: about $49 per month after a 7-day free trial (US and Canada), billed until you finish. Your total is set entirely by your pace. Google's estimates put most of the programs at six months at about 10 hours a week, with IT Support the outlier at roughly three months, and Google says most learners complete a certificate for less than $300. In practice that means roughly $100–$150 for IT Support and roughly $150–$300 for the six-month programs. Doubling your weekly hours roughly halves the bill: at 20 hours a week, a six-month program lands closer to three months and about $150.
The key limitation: the $49 rate applies to that one program only. Starting a second certificate means a second subscription, and the meters stack.
Model two: Coursera Plus, one fee for most of the catalogue
Coursera Plus is a flat-fee subscription: $59 per month with a 7-day free trial, or $399 per year, which works out to roughly $33 a month. Per the official product page, it covers 10,000+ courses, Guided Projects, Specializations and most Professional Certificates — including the Google programs listed above — with unlimited certificates on completion. It does not include degrees, MasterTrack certificates, or certain individual courses, Specializations and Professional Certificates, which is why the program-page check matters. The annual plan has a refund request window of up to 14 days, and certificates earned during that window are revoked if the refund is granted.

The break-even table: $49 a month versus $399 a year
Divide $399 by $49 and you get roughly 8.1 months. That single number decides most cases: Plus Annual only beats the stand-alone rate for one certificate if that program takes you more than about eight months. Here is the arithmetic across the realistic scenarios, using the figures from the pages we checked.

Three notes on reading the table. First, Plus Monthly at $59 does not change the one-certificate answer: it is $10 more per month than the stand-alone rate, so for a single program it is strictly more expensive every month — it only makes sense if you will run a second program alongside, say a SQL specialisation next to Data Analytics. Second, the two-certificate row is a genuine coin flip: two fast finishes at three months each cost about $300 billed separately, which beats $399, while two six-month runs cost about $600 and lose clearly. Third, from three programs up, Plus Annual is cheaper under every realistic pace, and the gap widens with every Specialization or Guided Project you add at no extra charge.
Coursera's periodic promotions can trim the first months of a new subscription, which shifts the break-even slightly in favour of Plus for new accounts — another reason to reconfirm the current price before running your own numbers.
Who should buy Coursera Plus for Google certificates
- Stackers planning two or more certificates in a year. IT Support followed by Cybersecurity is a natural sequence, since the first covers the infrastructure basics the second builds on. Three programs billed separately could cost $450–$900 against $399 for Plus. Our comparison of the five certificates maps out which pairs make sense.
- Certificate-plus-something learners. If you want a Google certificate and a deeper program running alongside — for instance a SQL or Python specialisation to shore up the thinnest part of the Data Analytics curriculum — Plus removes the second meter entirely.
- Slow but steady finishers. If you honestly expect a single program to take you longer than about eight months, Plus Annual at $399 caps the cost that the $49 meter would otherwise keep running past.
- Existing Plus subscribers. If you already pay for Plus, an included Google certificate is effectively free, and the only question left is time.
Who should not buy Plus for this
We would rather you keep your money than pay $399 for the wrong product. Skip Plus if:
- You want exactly one certificate and expect to finish inside eight months. Pay for the program directly at about $49 a month. At the typical 3–6 month pace you will spend roughly $150–$300 instead of $399, saving $99–$249.
- You have not proven you will study. Plus Annual is a bet on your own consistency, and a subscription you stop using after six weeks is the most expensive option of all. If your track record with self-paced learning is unproven, start with a single certificate's monthly billing — or the free trial — and earn the right to the annual plan with evidence.
- Your target program is not included. Coursera says certain Professional Certificates are excluded from Plus, and degrees and MasterTrack certificates never qualify. If the one program you care about does not show the Coursera Plus label on its page, Plus is the wrong purchase no matter how the rest of the math looks.

Check inclusion first, then test your pace on the trial
Step 1: verify your certificate is actually included
Do not rely on any article, including this one, for the inclusion call on your specific program. Open the certificate's own page on Coursera and look for the Coursera Plus label before subscribing. The official product page we checked said most Professional Certificates are included and that certain ones are excluded, without publishing a master list — so the program page is the only check that settles it for your program, in your region, this month.
Step 2: use a 7-day trial to measure your real pace
Both routes give you a free week: the stand-alone certificate has a 7-day free trial (US and Canada), and Plus Monthly has a 7-day free trial of its own. Whichever you start, treat the week as a full study week rather than a browse. Study on the schedule you will actually keep, note how far you get by day 7, and multiply out: your measured pace tells you whether you are a three-month finisher (pay per certificate), an eight-month-plus straggler (Plus Annual), or somewhere in the two-program toss-up zone. If the answer is no, cancel before the trial ends and you owe nothing.
Step 3: pick the plan the math points to
One certificate, finishing inside eight months: subscribe to that program alone at about $49 a month. Two or more programs, or one slow one: Plus — and if you choose Plus Annual, remember the refund request window of up to 14 days, with certificates earned in that window revoked if you refund. What happens if I cancel Coursera Plus midway?
The monthly plan can be cancelled anytime and you keep access until the end of the billing period you paid for; cancelling during the 7-day trial means no charge. The annual plan allows a refund request within up to 14 days of purchase — certificates earned in that window are revoked if the refund is granted — and after 14 days the annual fee is not refunded. Certificates you earned while subscribed remain yours after cancelling, but you lose access to content and graded assignments for unfinished programs.
